Sookie & Finn: Our Day DVD is a great tool to help your baby with his/her speech all the way from starting to say those magical first words to constructing two/three word sentences.

It is often said that young children who speak early tend to do better in school later. This should come as no surprise:

  • Talking takes your baby's frustration away. This leaves a lot more quality time for your interaction with your toddler.
  • An early talker starts increasing his/her vocabulary immediately. There is no limit to what you can teach your baby once s/he starts talking. In fact, by the time a late talker would start saying a few words, your baby could start discussing sophisticated ideas with his/her parents.
  • Talking early allows your toddler to understand, observe and enjoy his/surroundings and feed his/her curiosity sooner than late talkers. This tends to continue later into school life.

The Sookie and Finn DVDs are based on our unique methodology that is derived from latest available research in children's language development as well as extensive consultancy from a UK based paediatric speech and language therapist to promote expressive language production and vocabulary acquisition in babies and toddlers:

Key features:

  • We introduce 80 of the most frequently used English words, set in daily routines familiar to young children. This ensures that little ones can relate to the film and that the vocabulary introduced is highly relevant to the daily life of your child. It also means that your child can use the DVD as early as 9 months all the way to 36 months.
  • Simple dialogues ensure young children can appreciate the storyline. Simple backgrounds are interesting but not too overwhelming for a toddler.
  • Narration and repetition enable faster memorisation and retention of vocabulary.
  • Six great nursery rhymes built into the story keep the little ones engaged and entertained and offer you a chance to sing along together.
  • Scenes actively involve children by giving choices which encourage expressive language reproduction.
  • At the end of each scene, there is a summary section where an adult repeats the target vocabulary against a background of fragments from the film for increased retention.

Christie, mother of 1 year old Jessica

"Thanks for a putting out a DVD that I don't feel guilty putting on for my 12 month old, as I'm not that supportive of so many commercial TV shows for kids. For a one year old (with such a short attention span), she is surprisingly engaged by the program, especially when the lady appears in the corner repeating the words, something I haven't seen in other shows.

The words are everyday phrases, useful and pronounced slowly with what appears to me to be a relatively neutral accent.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone with toddlers."

Asu, mum to Alex (4) and James (2.5)

"My two-and-a-half-year-old son really enjoyed this DVD, as did my elder son, of four. The younger one keeps watching it and I don't know if it's coincidence but, since he started watching it, he has started talking properly, making sentences. I highly recommend this DVD for toddlers and look forward to series two!"

Mum to Kethan (18 months)

"Sookie & Finn is absolutely fantastic. Thank you for such a professional and engaging DVD. After we had our son, we started to pay close attention to children’s books and programmes but we never came across such a perfect one. The story, the animations, colours are just great. Kethan watches Sookie & Finn as if he is in a trance during the day and sleeps with it at night :))) We are looking forward to the next adventure of Sookie & Finn. Kethan already speaks a lot of words from the DVD –his favourite one being “toothbrush.
